I was not prepared to sink even more money into repairs and updates.
When I bought my home, I was so excited to live in Jacksonville, Florida. I just love the area. The weather is gorgeous. The summers are hot and sunny and the winters mild. The spring and fall seasons bring perfect temperatures, and there are so many things to do and see. The close proximity to the ocean and St. John’s River opens up opportunities for boating, fishing, paddleboarding, swimming, kayaking and so much more. There are wonderful places to shop and dine as well as theater, concerts and professional sporting events. Unfortunately, my home quickly became a huge draw on my budget. There were constant problems and repairs. While I appreciated the charm of an older home, I had issues with an outdated electrical system. Replacing the electrical panel was a huge expense. Shortly after that, the heat pump failed and needed to be replaced. A water pipe leak went unnoticed and caused all sorts of damage to the floors. The water heater ruptured, the sink clogged and a light fixture simply fell down from the ceiling and smashed. When a storm swept through the area with high winds, power outages, torrential downpours and flooding, I had a mess on my hands. The brand new heat pump was ruined. My roof was damaged. The new floors were destroyed. I had broken windows, mold growth and endless problems. No way would the house pass an inspection or do well on an appraisal. I was not prepared to sink even more money into repairs and updates. I decided to sell the house to a cash home buyer. I filled out the online contact form, provided some information and received an offer in less than twenty-four hours. I accepted the offer and we closed on the property in a little over a week.
